Endless canvas or board by board?

A classic whiteboard is an open canvas you scroll and zoom around. metaFox.online organizes a session into boards that you go through one after another, like slides.

You always see a whole board, and you go through them one after another, like slides.

When Miro is the better choice

If your team or the companies you work for already use Miro, stay with it. According to its pricing page, Miro has more than 7,000 templates from Miro and its community and more than 250 integrations, for example with Microsoft, Slack and Google.

For large free-form boards, for example for workshops or processes, and for high-resolution exports, including vector (PDF or SVG), Miro is the better choice. metaFox.online is built for coaching sessions with clients, not for that kind of work.

A picture card exercise in metaFox.online

Picture cards are already built into metaFox.online. You start them in the middle of a session, your client chooses on their own device, and the card then sits on your board.

  1. 1

    Choose a card set

Open the picture cards in your session, choose a set and ask your question, for example "Which card speaks to you?"

  2. 2

    Your client chooses

Your client browses on their own device and picks a card. The card then appears on your board.

  3. 3

Keep going and take it with you

You move and group the cards together and go on to the next board. Everything is saved. After the session, send your client the link to the board or a PDF.

Frequently asked questions

What is the main difference between Miro and metaFox.online?

Miro is an infinite canvas you scroll and zoom around. In metaFox.online, a session is made of boards you go through one after another, like slides; coaches tell us this is how they prefer to work. Picture cards, a constellation board and inner parts are already built in, so you don't have to build them yourself.

Can't I work slide by slide in Miro too?

Yes. Miro has a presentation mode for frames and the Miro Slides format, on all plans according to Miro. The slides sit on the board, which is the open canvas. In metaFox.online, the session itself is a sequence of boards, and you always see a whole board.

Do my clients need an account?

Not in metaFox.online: your client joins with a link, no account and nothing to install. In Miro, clients can join without an account as visitors if you open the board to anyone with the link; visitors can only edit on paid plans. Guests are invited to Miro by email and need a Miro account.

Is Miro cheaper than metaFox.online?

Per license, yes: Miro Starter costs €8 per member per month billed yearly, or €10 billed monthly, plus tax. On the minimum number of licenses, the Miro Help Center says 2, while the pricing page says there is no minimum for card payments, so check before you buy. Miro Free costs nothing and has 3 editable boards, but clients without an account can't edit there. metaFox.online Pro costs €39.95 per month plus VAT, with picture cards, a constellation board and inner parts included.

Where is the data stored, and what about GDPR?

Both store data in the EU. By default on all plans, Miro keeps board content in data centers in Ireland, with a backup in Germany; Miro's Help Center lists which data is excluded. metaFox.online runs on servers in Frankfurt (Germany), and video calls run through LiveKit's EU region in Frankfurt. Details are in our privacy policy.
